Moving In One Day – That's How It Works

It is possible to move in one day. However, good planning and preparation are required. Read below what you need to do to move in just one day.

Start preparing well in advance.

Start planning your move on time. Record all the things you may be renting, such as a moving van, storage space, hand truck or moving blankets, in time, so there is no chance that you miss the net on the day of the move. Many rental companies are often fully booked on weekends.

Try to arrange a repository.

Try to arrange a temporary storage place temporarily. If you don't want to rent a storage space, try with family or friends. This way, you can temporarily store boxes and other items in advance so that you do not have to carry them around on the day of the move.

Plan the day early

If you want to return the removal van the same day, picking it up as early as possible is best. You can usually go to rental companies from 07:00. The earlier you start, the more likely you are to finish the same day.

Get everything ready on time.

·         Make sure you don't have to pack anything on the day of the move. You can start packing the things you won't need until the move well in advance. For example, disassemble all furniture a day in advance so that you no longer have to do this on the day itself. Also, dismantle your bed and put the mattress on the floor for the last night. Then pack it in the mattress storage bag.

·         Place large items, such as the washing machine, on the ground floor.

·         Make sure you have food and drinks in a chilled packaging box ready for yourself and your helpers a day in advance. You will lose extra time if you have to go get food on a moving day.

·         Also consider, for example, enough garbage bags. You'll be surprised at how much you'll find that you want to throw away. Speaking of throwing away, find out in advance what you don't want to move to your new home. So many people move things that they later throw away anyway. This is a waste of precious time!

·         Load the moving van as efficiently as possible. Think about this format in advance. A good rule of thumb is: to load the large items into the moving van first and supplement them with moving boxes. Place large items, such as the washing machine, on the ground floor.

Have a tight schedule.

Make a list of things you need to arrange. Use a checklist for this and check off the things you have done.

Arrange as many helpers as possible.

If you are lucky enough to have enough helpers, make sure people stay in your old and new house. The helpers in your old house can then prepare the things, and the people in your new house can accept the things. In this way, the people who bring the stuff from A to B can go back and forth as quickly as possible. Usually, you have to hand over your old home in a clean condition. The people who stay in your old house can also take on this task immediately.

Make sure your helpers don't miss out during the move. Provide enough food and drink.

TIP: if people stay in your new house to take things, make sure you have chairs so they don't have to sit on the floor

If you do not want to risk your move taking longer than a day, it is best to hire a moving company.
